New packaging developed in a 24-hour race
In just 24 hours two cross disciplinary student teams managed to develop innovative solutions to how the forestry group Södra´s new biocomposite material DuraPulp can be used in food packaging. The result, and a winner, was presented at the ForestBeyond Innovation Day, held at Innventia Jan 18, where the forest industry and academia together tried to find new success recipes. “New cellulose based material a hot field to work in”
After successfully defending his doctoral thesis Molecular Interactions in Thin Films of Biopolymers, Colloids and Synthetic Polyelectrolytes at Biomime in Oct 2011, Erik Johansson now works at SweTree Technology with development of new biopolymers and cellulose based materials.
Congratulations, both to the doctor’s hat and the new job! It sounds interesting.
“Yes it is! Actually, I started at SweTree Technologies before I defended my thesis. We are six people from SweTree located at AlbaNova. I really enjoy working with new materials from cellulose, an area which has exploded over the last years.“
“Mainly I am involved in projects concerning fibre modification. Alhough the work is closer to product development and applications I benefit greatly from my thesis work when it comes to basic thinking and the materials we work with. The work at SweTree involves both research and further development of ideas or patents from the academic partners in Woodheads AB and others, or projects with industrial partners.”
